14-Day Paris, Tuscany & Rome Tour

Below is a brief summary of the itinerary. For a full description, see "Itinerary". The hours in parentheses ( ) indicate time on the motor coach between stops.

DAY 1 - Overnight flight from the U.S.A. to Paris.

DAY 2 - Upon arrival in Paris, meet your tour manager and transfer (1 hr) to your hotel. The balance of the day is yours to rest or jump start your sightseeing with a walk through Montmartre, Paris' Old Town. Use this time for an independent dinner. Two-night stay.

DAY 3 - Full day in Paris. Your tour manager will familiarize you with some of the major sights before you explore individually (1 hr transfer into center). In the morning, an optional Seine River Cruise excursion gives views of the Notre Dame Cathedral and the Eiffel Tower. After your "Welcome to Europe/ Get Acquainted" dinner, return (1 hr) to your Paris hotel. (Breakfast, Dinner)

DAY 4 - Depart Paris and, after your morning stop (1½ hr), travel through the Burgundy vineyards (2 hrs) to Beaune. Once you have checked into your Beaune Hotel, you will have time to explore this walled city, one of the key wine centers of France. One-night stay. (Breakfast)

DAY 5 - A morning drive (1½ hr) will bring you to Besançon, where you will have time for an independent lunch. Continue (2 hrs) through the Alsace Wine Region into Switzerland to your Swiss Alps Hotel. Two-night stay. (Breakfast, Dinner)

DAY 6 - In the morning, transfer ( ½ hr) to the old mountain village of Stans, with an optional Swiss Mountain excursion. Next, motor along the lake (½ hr) to the city of Lucerne. This afternoon enjoy free time in Lucerne and consider the optional Swiss Lake Boat Ride excursion before transferring (1 hr) back to your Swiss Alps Hotel. (Breakfast, Dinner)

DAY 7 -  This morning, travel south (1½ hr) and after your morning stop continue to Lugano (1½ hrs), with its stunning lakeside setting against the mountains, referred to as the "Rio of the Old Continent." After the mid-morning break, cross the border into Italy, and travel (2¼ hrs) into the Tuscan countryside to Verona. Two-night stay. (Breakfast)

DAY 8 - Travel (2 hrs) to Venice, where you will spend your entire day. Enjoy a guided walking tour followed by free time. This evening consider the optional Venice Dinner excursion before returning (2 hrs) to your Verona hotel.(Breakfast)

DAY 9 - Drive south into Tuscany (2 hrs) to your morning stop. Continue (2 hrs) to the medieval center of Lucca. From Lucca continue (½ hr) to Pisa. This evening travel (1 hr) to your Montecatini-Terme hotel. Two-night stay. (Breakfast, Dinner)

DAY 10 - This morning drive (1½ hr) to Florence. Enjoy a guided walking tour of the city and enjoy the rest of the day independently. Later, subject to availability at the time of your visit, your tour manager may be able to arrange for an optional Accademia Gallery excursion. Dine at a local vineyard restaurant (1½ hr) before returning (1½ hr) to your Montecatini-Terme hotel. (Breakfast, Dinner)

DAY 11 - Depart your Montecatini-Terme hotel (2 hrs) for a late morning stop in Siena. Join the optional Siena Duomo excursion for more in-depth exploration. Later, travel (2 ½ hrs) to your dinner stop, consisting of homemade specialties and continue (1 hr) to your Rome area hotel. Three-night stay. (Breakfast, Dinner)

DAY 12 - Enjoy a morning sightseeing tour of Rome. Later, explore Rome on foot independently or join the optional Vatican Museums & Sistine Chapel excursion (½ hr transfer). This evening return (½ hr) to your Rome hotel for a "Farewell Dinner." (BreakfastDinner)

DAY 13 - This morning (½ hr transfer), continue your independent discovery of Rome or join the optional Colosseum excursion. Spend the afternoon however you wish and this evening enjoy dinner independently or consider the optional Rome Dinner excursion. Return (½ hr) to your Rome hotel. (Breakfast)

DAY 14 - Transfer (½ hr) to the Rome Fiumicino Airport for the return flight home.(Breakfast)
