Optional Excursions

Our tours are carefully planned to offer a comfortable balance of sightseeing, entertainment, and leisure time. Optional Excursions provide the flexibility to choose between leisure time or additional sightseeing activities. The optional excursions we offer are listed alphabetically below along with approximate prices and times. Detailed descriptions and current pricing of the specific excursions for your tour will be included with your Trip Documents Packet.

• Unless otherwise noted, optional excursions must be booked with and paid to your tour manager in Europe.

• Prices are in U.S. Dollars. VISA®, MASTERCARD®, or DISCOVER® (no other credit cards are accepted) are recommended to avoid carrying excessive cash and exchange rate fluctuations. You must be able to present the actual card to your tour manager. If you bring a DISCOVER® card, also bring a VISA® or MASTERCARD® as DISCOVER® is not widely accepted in Europe.

• Cash payments during the tour must be in Euros.

• Personal checks and traveler’s checks are not accepted.

• The operation of all excursions is subject to sufficient participation, and some excursions are subject to favorable weather conditions. Your tour manager reserves the right to make changes to or cancel these excursions at his/her sole discretion.

Travel along the west coast of Lisbon, where you will see the mouth of the River Tagus and the Atlantic beaches. Via the aristocratic resort town of Estoril with its world-famous Casino, visit the charming fishing village of Cascais and admire the expansive views from Cape Roca, continental Europe’s westernmost point.

At the ‘Rock’, a Gibraltar resident will introduce you to the natural formations inside St. Michael’s Cave, the curious Barbary Apes, and the Natural Reserve (maximum elevation 1,000 ft.). Step back in time in the charming, whitewashed village of Mijas. After exploring, watch the sun set over the Mediterranean coast. In the cozy setting of a family-run countryside restaurant, sit down to an Andalusian dinner with wine included.

This optional excursion must be reserved prior to and paid with your final tour payment. The price includes round trip ferry across the Strait of Gibraltar, local guide, and lunch with folklore entertainment. You will also have time to explore and bargain at the bazaars and souks. Return for a late, included dinner at the hotel.

Within the fortified walls of Toledo lie treasured museums, churches, synagogues, and mosques representing the combination of cultures that have thrived here. The morning walking tour with a local guide includes two interior visits. After an independent lunch, you will have time to explore the narrow streets of this enchanting medieval village built on a hill. During the return trip to Madrid, make a popular photo stop overlooking Toledo.
